The Shanghai Chapter of IAOP partnered with the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai to present a half day event on the Transformation of Outsourcing in China.  The event focused on two trends in China’s outsourcing industry, both aimed at higher value outcomes.  The first was looking at the trend to move away from Time and Materials or fixed price relationship towards Managed Services relationships.  Eric Rongley, the Shanghai IAOP Chapter Chair and Chair of the China Board for IAOP was the MC.  Both a vendor and customer of managed services presented about their experiences with the more mature engagement model.  David Panitz, MD of Bleum Commerce, presented on the second topic, outsourcing of eCommerce business in China.  He showed how leading brands from the West can quickly enter China and get to EBITA in China by partnering with an experienced China outsourcing provider for their entire China business, not just their IT needs.  A customer of the service also presented their experience accelerating their China entry strategy.
