IAOP and ISG Announce Results of The 2015 State of the Industry Survey

Windermere, FL, June 3, 2015 – IAOP®, in association with Information Services Group (ISG), a leading technology insights, market intelligence and advisory services company announced today the results of its 2015 State of the Industry survey, an annual global study that asks professionals in the outsourcing industry for their opinions on important industry trends, opportunities and challenges.

“Everyone outsources,” said Mike Corbett, IAOP’s Founder and Chairman. “But the way businesses outsource is constantly changing.  From social, mobile, analytics and the cloud to socially responsible outsourcing, the playing field is constantly changing.   IAOP’s annual survey is the benchmark professionals around the world rely upon.”

The survey was distributed to more than 50,000 outsourcing customers, service providers and advisors worldwide in December 2014 about their current outsourcing efforts, how their motivations, goals and tactics were changing, and how they planned to use outsourcing in 2015 and beyond. The report is based on both the survey results and a follow-up poll of attendees of The 2015 Outsourcing World Summit, which was held in February 2015.

Companies are considering outsourcing more functions than ever before and are doing it in ways they haven’t done before, according to the findings.

Three major themes emerged from this research and are detailed in the complete report: There is a high level of maturity among outsourcing customers, which is evidenced by the drivers they cite for outsourcing, the new ways they are engaging with service providers, and how they are changing contract structures. Flexibility is currently the most important outsourcing driver. Besides helping grow the market for outsourced service, demand for flexibility is also leading to increased multisourcing and changes to outsourcing contract terms and governance structures. The strong demand for cloud-based services is another byproduct of the flexibility driver. Customers recognize the growing importance of service integration and management (SIAM), and that is also influencing outsourcing engagements and contract activity.
