IAOP and CISQ Announce Strategic Partnership

Windermere, FL, March 1, 2018 – Today, IAOP® and Consortium for IT Software Quality™ (CISQ™) announce their partnership to provide standards, education and thought leadership to the Information Technology (IT) outsourcing industry.

“We are pleased to partner with CISQ and look forward to working with them in the future to deliver the most relevant information on software development and delivery for outsourcing professionals," said IAOP CEO Debi Hamill. "Through alliances like this one, IAOP continues to promote and advance the management practice and industry of outsourcing.”

The missions of both organizations are complementary and intersecting: IAOP is the largest active global community of outsourcing professionals worldwide who consult IAOP for strategic guidance on the outsourcing industry; CISQ is an IT leadership group that develops international standards for automating the measurement of software size, structural quality, and related measures from source code. Standards from CISQ are starting to be leveraged in outsourcing agreements as the equivalent of software quality requirements to manage the delivery of secure, reliable and resilient software.

“Software quality standards are critical to benchmarking,
scorecarding, and establishing acceptance criteria for software deliverables,” said Dr. Bill Curtis, CISQ Executive Director. Prior to leading CISQ, Dr. Curtis led the development of the Capability Maturity Model at the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, a CISQ co-founder. “We look forward to partnering with IAOP to advise the outsourcing industry on best practices for measuring quality code and architecture.”

As a result of this partnership, IAOP and CISQ will offer new membership benefits and educational opportunities. IAOP members are invited to a March 7 webinar, Using Software Quality Standards in Outsourced IT Vendor Engagements – a Fortune 100 Case Study, hosted by CISQ. IAOP hosts its Outsourcing World Summit® series of conferences and events in the U.S. and Europe, as well as chapter meetings, courses, and workshops where CISQ will participate. CISQ members are now eligible to receive a discount on IAOP membership and events.

About CISQ
The Consortium for IT Software Quality™ (CISQ™) is an IT leadership group that develops standards for automating the measurement of software size, structural quality, and related measures from static analysis of source code. Standards developed by CISQ are “acquisition-ready” to help the IT industry measure and manage the quality of software products developed internally or by third parties. CISQ was founded in 2010 when the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University and the Object Management Group (OMG), a technology standards consortium, were approached by system integrators and asked to develop standards for measuring software attributes such as reliability and security. These attributes were appearing in development and outsourcing contracts as the equivalent of service level agreements, and every customer had a different definition of how they were to be measured. To date, CISQ has delivered automatable standards for Function Points, Enhancement Points, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Maintainability and Technical Debt. Visit www.it-cisq.org.
